CHAPTER 7 - DOUBT

Change is a universal inevitability, yet for most people, especially at the fundamental level, is one of the hardest things to consciously implement.

We attach ourselves to narratives and ideas that hold our world view together. The consequent investments made make any change in course painful.

Without encouragement deterministic and reductionary philosophies can underwrite your logical systems, leaving you predisposed to confirmation biases when assessing data surrounding your own judgement.

When you can't trust yourself, who can you trust?


CHAPTER 8 - CONTROL

The Pauli exclusion principle is the idea in every single atom, no two electrons are the same at the same time. Which you could conclude speaks to a deep inter connectivity within the universe.

The idea you can simply switch off social media, or disassociate with the political class and its corruption and be free from its implications seems infantile.

It is apparent freedom requires responsibility, but equally it can feel for many responsibility requires freedom. If people do not feel empowered and free to be their best version, they will feel personal responsibilty has little to no practical implications to them or the collective.


CHAPTER 9 - STRIKER

There is a theory in boxing that a fighter who is attempting to change his fighting style, will revert to type when placed under significant pressure. A theory I think rooted in a metaphorical truth we all face.

The set back will come and even with a good set of tools not everyone has the foundations to face these set backs in the most positive manner. Not everyone wins. The truth is alot of people lose.

The fear associated with this fact carries a deeply evolved response with obvious benefits. However, like everything else in life when used disproportionately will halt growth. Simultaneously this makes cultures that validate these fears while offering short term fixes more seductive.
